The Books of the Book of Mormon Scavenger Hunt

Each clue provides a scripture from one book in the Book of Mormon, and a clue leading you to the answer. The clues are in order to help you remember the order of the books in the Book of Mormon and an important scripture it contains. The last clue will lead you to a special surprise!

Remember to be reverent and respectful while in the church, and also remember that there are no clues hidden in the chapel or cultural hall, so please refrain from entering them.

Scripture: 1 Nephi 8:10 And it came to pass that I beheld a tree, whose fruit was desirable to make one happy.
Clue: To the left of the church, there grows something that the vision in this book is described after. Find your next clue there.
Location: Large tree to the left of the church
Clue: This tree’s fruit is beautiful white flowers. Find it for the next steps to be revealed.

Scripture: 2 Nephi 25:26And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophesies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins.
Clue: You will find your next clue hidden in the hymns book where the children in our church go on Sundays.
Location: Hymn books in Primary Room
Clue: When we preach of Christ, sometimes we use pass-along cards to share information. Find the place where the missionaries supply the ward with these items to find the next clue.

Scripture: Jacob 2:18 But before ye seek for riches, seek ye the kingdom of God.
Clue: Find your next clue near the door you would open when you are seeking sports equipment.
Location: Near ball closet doors
Clue: Seek out a bench that you would sit on to play music.

Scripture: Enos 1:15 …Whatsoever thing ye shall ask in faith, believing that ye shall receive in the name of Christ, ye shall receive it.
Clue: Search the chairs near the picture of Jesus descending from Heaven.
Location: Under cushion on blue chair in back lobby.
Clue: Asking for the answer? Try kneeling outside the Young Women room windows.
Location: Outside the Young Women room middle window.

Scripture: Jarom 1:7 And it came to pass that they came many times against us, the Nephites, to battle. But our kings and our leaders were mighty men in the faith of the Lord; and they taught the people the ways of the Lord wherefore, we withstood the Lamanites and swept them away out of our lands, and began to fortify our cities, or whatsoever place of our inheritance.
Clue: Find a picture of the current church leader inside the church to find your next clue.
Location: Picture of President Monson on the library bulletin board.
Clue: Sweep up the church by finding a broom in the Member Custodial Closet…and find the next clue.

Scripture: Omni 1:26 And now, my beloved brethren, I would that ye should come unto Christ, who is the Holy One of Israel, and partake of his salvation, and the power of his redemption. Yea, come unto him, and offer your whole souls as an offering unto him, and continue in fasting and praying, and endure to the end and as the Lord liveth ye will be saved.
Clue: When you fast, you should pay a fast offering. Go to where you would get an offering envelope to find your next clue.
Location: Tithing envelope box by bishop’s office.
Clue: Endure to the end…just like your next clue is doing right now! Go to the storm drain in the yard to the left of the church and you will find your clue enduring a long trail.

Scripture: Words of Mormon 1:8 And my prayer to God is concerning my brethren, that they may once again come to the knowledge of God, yea, the redemption of Christ; that they may once again be a delightsome people.
Clue: Be delightful all the way to the front entrance of the church….you’ll find your next clue hanging around there.
Location: Hanging near front entrance doorway.
Clue: Some of our brethren are involved in Scouts. Find the Troop 1094 bulletin board to locate the next clue.

Scripture: Mosiah 4:30 But this much I can tell you, that if ye do not watch yourselves, and your thoughts, and your words, and your deeds, and observe the commandments of God, and continue in the faith of what ye have heard concerning the coming of the Lord, even unto the end of your lives, ye must perish. And now, O man, remember, and perish not.
Clue: Don’t take too much time to watch yourselves where your next clue is hiding. It may be tempting to check your reflection, but there is another clue to find!

Scripture: Alma 5:14 And now behold, I ask of you, my brethren of the church, have ye spiritually been born of God? Have ye received his image in your countenances? Have ye experienced this mighty change in your hearts?
Clue: Some daffodils have just been born outside the side door. Find them to find your next clue.
Location: Daffodils by side door.
Clue: Missionaries take upon themselves the name of Christ. Find the picture of someone serving from our Ward right now to find your next clue.
Location: On bulletin board outside bishop’s office, by picture of Elder Ealy.

Scripture: Helaman 5:12 And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall.
Clue: Go check out the rocks the Ward building is made of! Find the big sign that welcomes visitors outside for your next clue!
Location: Church name sign on front of building.
Clue: Stay out of the storm by standing underneath the front entrance roof…you’ll find your clue there, too!

Scripture: 3 Nephi 11:15 And it came to pass that the multitude went forth, and thrust their hands into his side, and did feel the prints of the nails in his hands and his feet; and this they did do, going forth one by one until they had all gone forth, and did see with their eyes and did feel with their hands, and did know of surety and did bear record, that it was he, of whom it was written by the prophets, that should come.
Clue: There is another story that uses the term “one by one” in the scriptures. Find the image of that event in the nursery to find your next clue.

Clue: Go forth and find the little evergreen tree towards the back on the parking lot to find your next clue.

Scripture: 4 Nephi 1:15 And it came to pass that there was no contention in the land, because of the love of God which did dwell in the hearts of the people.
Clue: Red is the color of love, and the color of the chairs you need to find for the next clue.

Clue: Feel the love of God inside the temple. Find a picture of the Washington D.C. temple to get your next clue.
Location: Near DC Temple picture in front lobby.

Scripture: Mormon 9:28 Be wise in the days of your probation; strip yourselves of all uncleanness; ask not, that ye may consume it on your lusts, but ask with a firmness unshaken, that ye will yield to no temptation, but that ye will serve the true and living God.
Clue: “Be Your Best” is the theme of this scripture, and if you can find the poster that says that, you’ll find your next clue.

Clue: Open these doors to serve food from the kitchen, and to get your next directions!

Scripture: Ether 6:3 And thus the Lord caused stones to shine in darkness, to give light unto men, women, and children, that they might not cross the great waters in darkness.
Clue: Your clue will be found near a light pole in the parking lot…but which one?

Clue: Find the light that shines down on the front sidewalk to find your next clue.

Scripture: Moroni 10:5 And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.
Clue: Before you receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost, you must be baptized. Go to the doors behind which you would enter the waters of baptism and search for your prize.

Clue: You can learn many truths by reading the scriptures…go check out a copy of the Bible from the library to get your next clue.
Location: In library in a copy of the Bible. Participants will have to check out a copy from the librarian to get their clue.
