Righteous Round-Up YW Camp Idea
Based on “And then shall the righteous shine forth in the Kingdom of God.” Alma 40:25
Each unit/level decorates area in western or country theme. Also, they can each select a name for their “Company” (Bunkhouse Beauties, Cutey-Pie Corral, Western Warriors, Sagebrush Sweeties, etc.) The Mess Hall is the Chuck Wagon, the main campfire area is Horseshoe Court, meals are called Vittles, Leaders are Mountain Mamas, the hike day is Happy Trails Day, secret sister gifts are delivered by the Pony Express, etc. Food: Buffalo Burgers, Navajo Tacos, Lone Star Stew, Little Doggies (hot dogs), Bronco Beans (pork ‘n beans), Rootin-Tootin Root beer, Tumbleweed Taters (potatoes), Wagon Wheels (donuts or rolls), Home on the Range Hash, etc.
Workshop Ideas: “Saddle Up!” (putting on the whole armor of God-Jeremiah 46:4), “Bridle your Passions” (choice & accountability, morality, self-control), “Lasso Your Dreams” (Setting goals, righteous desires), and “Cairns Along the Trail” (overcoming obstacles, staying on the path, enduring to the end).
Crafts: Anything with denim, old jean pockets, bandanas, fringe, faux leather, beads, hammered tin crafts, etc.
Acitivities: Each ward performs a line-dance, or all the YW could learn a line-dance as one group.
Songs: Streets of Laredo, Country Roads, Mama don’t Allow no Guitar Pickin’, I Ride an Old Paint, Buffalo Gals, Clementine, Home on the Range, etc.
