FHE lesson on the First Vision

Begin by telling your family a little about the Great Apostasy using Preach My Gospel page 35. This will give a little background information about why a restoration was needed.

Then describe Joseph Smith, and how he was confused by the different churches and their different religions. Then use Preach My Gospel pages 36 and 37 and read some of the passages while using pictures 401, 402, 403, 404, 406, 407, 408, 416, and 417 from the Gospel Art Picture Kit to go along with the story.

Then end by explaining the name of the Church and who leads it today.

For the activity, we played charades using the pictures above. First, mix up the pictures. Then allow a family member to choose one. Then have that person act out what is on the picture and see if your other family members can guess what picture is being acted out.
