Bee all you can Be Camp Theme

Give each sleeping and meeting area a name relating to bees, or the army. Give leaders and youth leader’s nicknames relating to whichever theme you chose.

Bees Betty Buzz, Aunt Enna (she has all the info), Queen Bee (Camp Director), Honey Hive (food prep or eating area), Clover Craft, Deseret Dorms (sleeping quarters), Honey Comb, Drone Duty (cleaning latrines,
dishes, etc.)

Awards: The Bee’s Knees (for doing something terrific), Honey Sweet Service, Deseret Industry Award (for hard work), Honeycomb (for amazing hygiene during camp), Buzz (loudest girl, camp, sleepiest, stay up the latest–you choose), Girls can earn stripes for various things.

First Aid–Be Prepared, Be Safe

Camp Mottos to put around camp–Be Cheerful, Be Friendly, Be Helpful, Be Yourself, Be an Example, Be Your Best

Distribute a booklet with questions about being your best on each page for journal writing.

Possible questions:
What kind of girl am I?
What kind of woman do I want to be?
What kind of wife do I want to be?
What kind of mother do I want to be?
What am I doing to be healthy, to be spiritually prepared, to be more righteous, and to be a peacemaker in my home, to study the scriptures?
What are my strong points? What do other people compliment me on?
What are my weaknesses? Where can I improve?

Crafts

Learn to dry and preserve flowers. Use the dried flowers to make flower arrangements, or to decorate journals, jewelry boxes, etc.

Decorate smooth rocks to look like bees. Use yellow and black paint for the body with accent colors of white, red, blue, etc. Have black pipe cleaners for antennas and legs. Stiffened mesh would make good wings. Also, craft stores might sell fairy wings made out of mesh and wire. Or decorate the rocks to look like ladybugs, grasshoppers, or crickets.

Games and Skits:

Make up a line dance based on a bee telling others at the hive where the flowers are–show it off at the next youth dance!

Act out the story of the Brother of Jared–they brought with them Deseret (being interpreted, the honey bee)

Do a 60’s skit starring our favorite Young Women’s hairdo, the Beehive!

A despondent bee roams around a garden, wishing to be like Butterfly, Ladybug, Dragonfly, etc. She learns about her individual worth–she is special because she can make honey.

What’s the latest buzz? Tell deliciously silly camp rumors

Play operator (also known as telephone–whisper a phrase through a line of people and see if what the last person heard was what the first person said)

Have a Kazoo competition (or play songs on combs)

Activities

Learn to identify edible flowers, roots, and other vegetation. Have a honey taffy pull Learn to dance in 50’s/60’s style (“bee”-bop)
